The 2005 Tootsie Roll Drive was held on Friday, April 15th, through Sunday, April 17th, at Shopko, Piggly Wiggly, and St. Mary’s Catholic Community on the East side of De Pere, and Walmart, Festival Foods, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, on the West side. We also collected at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Wrightstown. A total of 140 shifts of 2 hours each were utilized. The end result was a fantastic total of $9,500 collected and 23 cases of Tootsie Rolls were used. We have about seven cases left for use at other projects.

John Hofbauer and Kevin Brauer thank all of you that participated in this annual undertaking for our K of C Special People funding and for the Area Religious Special Ed program. Thanks to all that came forward and volunteered and those that said yes when we called you. A special thanks goes out to all those Brother Knights that took multiple shifts. We also thank Dave Sladek for the wonderful banjo music provided at the early afternoon shift at Shopko. Another special thanks goes to the Bill DeGroot family, who always cover the Masses at St. Paul’s in Wrightstown.

As co-chairmen for the past 5 years, John and Kevin have decided to pass the baton on to a new team, so if you’re interested, please contact the Grand Knight or John Hofbauer or Kevin Brauer for more information. Thanks for making our jobs the last five years fun and fulfilling with all the support you all have given to us. Best of luck to the next team!
